I must be morally bankrupt! I have NO guilt about getting rid of things. I have an aversion to “stuff.” It’s broken-get rid of it! It’s old and worn out – get rid of it! It doesn’t fit (too small) hold on to it for another year then – get rid of it if it still does not fit. Over 50 it’s unusual to lose that MUCH weight. I’m too old to wear it again? Oh God, please GET RID OF IT BEFORE I WEAR IT! (I’ve embarrassed myself more than once!) Old paperwork – get rid of it. Everything is is available on line now. I can come up with reasons to get rid of anything! Oh but I do have guilt: buying books! I have a Kindle but I still read “ink on paper” books, too. And I love them. I love to see a pile of them waiting to be read. I love how they feel and smell (when they don’t make me sneeze). I save almost NONE of them! And still I feel guilty about the act of buying them! Go know!

Would you believe that while i was waiting for the comment page, I momentarily forgot the comment I was going to write?

Good points in the article. The memory is certainly needed for things like, say, standup.

My passwords tend to be variations on a theme, so even if I forget one, I can usually trial-and-error it.

What a feel good column.

As someone famous once said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

Everyone with unneeded stuff should try this — especially in these hard times. Think how many people could be helped — think how much faith in humanity could be restored.
